I honestly am not sure if it counts as a 'default weapon attack' since it's a spell. If you like Forcewave better than Cadence, just remember that you aren't stuck playing Cadence forever. Keep in mind that Cadence DK is a "loss leader" build - it's an accessible way to do early-endgame content so you can farm the gear for better builds. That way they'll all get hit by your AoE and die efficiently. Unlike 2H Forcewave, where you need to avoid being pinned down and overwhelmed, Cadence sword-and-board clears best by getting every mob on the screen to surround you. The joy of sword-and-board Cadence is having decent damage while being tough as nails. Regarding Cadence playstyle - once you spec back to it after level 65 - make sure you're using Blitz to charge into packs. With all of that stacked up, Cadence will work much better. You also want at least 5 ranks each in Markovian's Advantage, Zolhan's Technique, and at least one of Necromancer's default attack replacers. Do not spec into Cadence without the Oleron devotion. The Oleron devotion power is especially important to clearing, since it creates a 360-degree explosion around you. You need enough skill and devotion points to supplement them with other effects. Farm a decent Obsidian War Cleaver from the final zone of Act 4 (they're fairly common) to get a good leveling weapon.Ĭadence + Deadly Momentum by themselves feel pretty weak.
